Art Therapist/Counselor- Child Specialty

Sage House Counseling & Art Therapy is looking for an experienced associate to join our Reston Virginia team. We provide counseling, art, play, and sand tray therapies for adults, children, adolescents and families. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide in-person talk therapy/ counseling, play therapy, sand tray therapy and art therapy to children ages 3 years- 12 years old.

  • Must feel comfortable coordinating care with parents and providing parental support.

  • Must be available at least three afternoons/evenings per week. Open to working one weekend day (Saturdays or Sundays).

  • Provide a minimum of 18 sessions (hours) per week.

  • All clients will be seen in-person at the Reston, Virginia Office location.

Qualifications:

  • M.A. in Art Therapy

  • Must have an active license in Virginia- qualifying licenses include LPC, LMFT and LCSW. *Current Residents in Counseling are welcome to apply.

  • Must have a certification in Art Therapy (ATR-P, ATR or ATR-BC). Preference for clinicians with board certification as Art Therapist (ATR-BC) and/or Play Therapist (RPT).

  • Ideal candidates have a minimum of three years of experience (post-graduation) working with children and families.

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed therapy.

  • Value a creative and holistic approach.

  • Eager to grow professionally within the private practice setting and be an active member of our clinical team.

We provide counseling, art, play, and sand tray therapies for adults, children, adolescents and families.   • Must be available at least three afternoons/evenings per week.

  • Provide a minimum of 18 sessions (hours) per week.

  • All clients will be seen in-person at the Reston Office location. Option to provide virtual sessions, when therapeutically appropriate.
