Art and Wellness Events in Northern Virginia
Sage House offers community events throughout the year. These include workshops in collaboration with local organizations and businesses. Our events are typically free or minimal cost to all participants. All are welcome to join us. We do not require you be a current client or have a family member in treatment at our practice to participate. Sage House embraces these events as opportunities to offer the general public a window into what we do and how art therapy can be helpful to wellness! Our events educate the public about mental health concerns and provide tools and resources that can be used in everyday life to lower stress, increase self-awareness and cultivate self-compassion.
Northern Virginia Family & Parenting Workshops
We also offer parent and family wellness workshops, packed with the latest research findings in parenting, childhood development and how to navigate emotional challenges for children of all ages. Sage House workshops offer you and your family concrete tools to use each day and allow parenthood to feel less stressful and more fun. Our workshops are facilitated by Sage House clinician Kelley Kuchinov, MA, ATR-BC, who offers 15 years of experience working with children and teens of all ages as well as their parents. Kelley incorporates Art Therapy, CBT, DBT and mindfulness into her work and shares with parents insight into some of the most common parenting and family issues. Kelley brings warmth and compassion to her work as she is also a parent and knows the challenges and joys of raising children.
We are always looking for businesses, organizations and schools to partner with for workshops and events! If you are interested in learning more about hosting an event in your community please reach out to us for more information.
Northern Virginia Group Painting Classes
Sage House now offers painting events at work, school and private gatherings! Our painting events are led by Sage House Art Therapist, Kelley Kuchinov, MA, ATR-BC.
As a participant, Kelley will lead you through the painting process. As your guide she will assist you in going from a blank canvas to a masterpiece! In the process you will learn new painting techniques, the fundamentals of perspective, color mixing and even a few insider tips to give your future DIY painting projects that professional touch! Each participant will be able to take home their completed work.
One of the benefits of painting in a group is the shared experience. As we explore, learn (and laugh!) participants will also engage in a celebration of our diversity. No two canvases will look alike and we often learn participants are surprised by their own creativity and artistic abilities!
All of our painting workshops are roughly two hours and require a minimum of ten participants. Sage House provides all the painting materials and our team will handle all set up and clean up. The only requirement is to show up with an open mind and have fun! Visit our recent blog post to see pictures and learn more about a recent event.
We care deeply about the needs of our community and strive to advocate for those needs through our services, resources, and partnerships.
We’re not perfect. And neither are you. And that’s okay. We celebrate what your version of wellbeing looks like instead of fitting you into a predetermined box.
Therapy doesn’t always have to be heavy and serious. It can be light and playful and funny, and we take pride in cultivating an atmosphere of joy amidst transformative healing.
